One can’t help but listen in when people start talking about their weight. Needing to lose a few pounds here, a lot more there, the cellulite needs to disappear and the flabby tummy needs to firm up. Most people really want to get the “ideal” body shape! One weight goal that is often not talked about is weight gain. This may not be as simple as just eating frequently.

There can be several reasons for low weight or weight loss. It is important to seek advice from a Health Professional to understand the reasons for your low weight or weight loss, to rule out any serious conditions and together develop a plan to kick-start your weight gain journey. One should also include mindfulness practices that can be helpful in managing any negative feelings and mental turbulence during your weight gain journey.

Meditation, counselling or transformation coaching can lead to a variety of benefits. By resetting your mindset you can begin feeling and honouring what you are yearning for and build the courage to take the necessary action for good change and keep consistent during your weight gain journey.

Here are some tips when embarking on your weight gain journey:

- Seek the advice of a Dietician for the best eating plan tailored for you. Make sure to include the right amount of fat, carbs, and protein in each meal. Eat at least three meals a day. Consider weight gainer shakes in between meals. These are very high in protein, carbs, and calories.

- Gain weight not only with an eating plan but also by incorporating an exercise plan to ensure muscle growth and maintaining a healthy body. Seek the advice of a fitness expert and together draw up an exercise plan tailored to suit your weight gain needs . Ultimately, the exercise plan should help you grow muscle and maintain a healthy body.

- Get quality sleep. Sleeping properly is very important for muscle growth.

- Avoid smoking, and if you smoke, consider quitting. Smokers tend to weigh less than non-smokers, and quitting smoking often leads to weight gain.

Gaining weight is not as simplistic as commonly perceived as the “ideal” body shape is non-existent making the weight gain journey deeply personal and subjective. It takes courage to embark on a weight gain program. Follow through in a healthy and mindful way and always seek the advice of a Health Professional.
